Run by a small, independent team, Swampland was sparked by a frustration with the lack of platforms for intelligent music journalism—particularly those that focus solely on Australian musicians. I, alongside Kimberley Thomson and Kelsey Oldham are co-founders.
This bi-annual print publication will continue to publish features in-depth, profiles and interviews, longform features and photo essays — all with a key focus on independent Australian musicians and labels. Between them, our writers have previously written for Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Mess+Noise, Junkee, NME, The Quietus, VICE, Pitchfork, and New York Magazine among others.
Although Swampland is an independent, start-up operation, contributors are reimbursed for their work as fairly as possible.
